Take a Chance
__________________
Take a Chance has a photograph of a painted wall and doorway
matched with an imagined version of a checker-like game.

Fetish Spirit 1 has raffia and found metal tool
which suggest a dance mask.
Private Collection

Fetish Spirit 2 has raffia, peach pits,
and part of a metal tool on it.

Reindeer Spirit is made with bones
that suggest a deer shape.
Private Collection

Face Mask was also exhibited at the
Mesa Arts Center, Mesa, AZ.  It has a piece of
metal found in Ghana with the encaustic.

Good Queenmother honors the wife of the last king
of Ghana who led her people against the British,
winning the battle, but losing the war.  It has a
prayer in Asante, tears of pearls, and a farm tool with
a hole in it which I bought from a Ghanaian farmer.

Covered Pot shows an actual ceramic pot,
with a lovely design on it, drying herbs on the lid.
The photograph inspired the design in encaustic.

Griot combines a tourist mask which I painted with
a photo of a painted house and an encaustic panel.

Butterfly Energy is based on a chaos theory of
a small disturbance, say the flutter of a butterfly
in Africa, causing a tornado in the US.
The image is an African butterfly.
